Coming Soon and Availability

We are now available in the Lake District, elsewhere in the UK and further afield.

During periods of lockdown we supported the national effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus and we discouraged unnecessary travel, but continued to offer a limited range of activities where legislation, guidelines and common sense allowed us to do so.

Since the Covid crisis we have generally continued to operate more locally, focussing on activities in the Lake District and other not so distant areas such as Yorkshire and the Peak District. That said, in 2022 we were also guiding in the Pamirs (Kyrgyzstan) and in Antarctica!

For the duration of the pandemic we sought to work within the legislation and advice of the governments of the countries we operate in, and we will continue to do so. More than this, all of our activities are bespoke and we consider the impact of each trip booked with us on public safety. We discuss in advance with the participants the precautions we will take to minimise the risks and whether we think it is wise to go ahead. To give you confidence in these uncertain times all bookings made are fully flexible so if things have to be changed because of the Covid situation there’s no problem. We endorse the advice provided for outdoor professionals to help keep their activities Covid secure.

How to Book

Whatever your destination, to book, please contact me first to discuss your proposed trip and to confirm your preferred dates are available. I can then reserve dates for you provisionally. To confirm your booking I will request a 25% deposit and a completed booking form. Payment is ideally by transfer to my account by on line banking or in your branch, and signed booking forms may be posted or emailed to me.

I am always happy to advise, assist and help arrange your trip. If I am already booked and can’t guide you personally, or if you have a larger group requiring more than one guide, I can select and book additional guides for you. I can also make other arrangements for you such as booking your accommodation and arranging equipment that you might not own yourself, for example boots, ice axe and crampons if required. For full details of the gear you will need please see the kit list appropriate to your trip.

Please book early for your next adventure to secure the dates of your choice. This will enable you to prepare well and to enjoy the planning of your ascents; the pleasure of anticipation will last all the longer!

Robin’s daily rates are:

  • UK – from £220 /day

  • Alpine – from £350 /day

We usually work with small group sizes, and do not charge extra for more people. You split the fee and expenses between the party members. You will be notified of any additional expenses to expect and information can be found in the appropriate trip details. These are normally travel, accommodation and meals, and mountaineering holiday insurance if used. Occasional use of ski lifts may be made in some areas for fast access into the mountains.

Accommodation can be arranged with all tastes and budgets catered for from camping and caravans to 5* hotels – this is your holiday, spend it how you want!

Insurance is essential in the Alps, and you must take out specialist cover appropriate to our activities. Wherever you are travelling to, I recommend you have appropriate insurance, including cover against cancellation.

There are several insurance providers that specialise in the activities I offer, including: The BMC Snowcard P J Hayman

For your own enjoyment of the course, please try to do a little training before your holiday, if you feel you need to!
