Winter climbing and mountaineering in the UK is very special to me: I first started out as an Aspirant Mountain Guide in 1992 running my Winter Skills Courses programme from March House, Glen Feshie in the Cairngorm Region. Back in those days I was based all winter in Scotland, but now I travel there for shorter periods of time on a regular basis; and I enjoy winter climbing, mountaineering, walking and skiing in the Lake District when we have the conditions.
I still return to March House, the wonderful guesthouse run by Caroline Hayes in Glen Feshie. March House now has a kitchen for self catering guests to use in winter, and it is an ideal place to base our winter operations!
As well as the Cairngorms, other climbing areas I’ve visited frequently in winter are the North West Highlands, Lochaber, Ben Nevis, Glencoe, Creag Meagaidh and Lochnagar.
The download ‘Winter info’ has all the details and full descriptions of the instruction and guiding I provide.
